Planning permission has been granted for the construction of two new apartment blocks and a building for a kindergarten and administrative offices for housing cooperative BiG (Baugenossenschaft im Gut) in Zurich-Wiedikon.
The project is a collaboration between Caruso St John Architects and Lütjens Padmanabhan Architekt*innen. Construction is due to start in autumn 2024 and completion is planned for 2026.

Working in collaboration with Lütjens Padmanabhan Architekten, Caruso St John have won the competition to build two new apartment buildings within the existing Baugenossenschaft im Gut estate in Zurich-Wiedikon.
On Saturday 26th of September there will be a public viewing of the newly completed Im Gut residential estate on Gutstrasse in Zurich. Developed in collaboration with Lütjens Padmanabhan Architects, the project for the housing cooperative im Gut renews the existing housing stock with around one hundred apartments, a kindergarten, and cooperative offices.
Topped-out! The building cooperative and the contractors celebrated the topping-out ceremony for construction sites A and D. Caruso St John developed the project in collaboration with Lütjens Padmanabhan Architects and is responsible for the smaller residential building, the kindergarten and the cooperative's office within the ensemble.
A façade mock-up had been constructed for two residential buildings designed for the Im Gut housing cooperative. The two buildings, which will face each other along Gutstrasse in Zurich Wiedikon, will be defined by their distinctive combination of tilted corrugated panels and bright yellow highlights.
The new residential and commercial development in Tribschen has reached completion and is handed over to the client on schedule. Comprising of 147 flats alongside ground-floor retail spaces, the building welcomed its first occupants this summer.

Planning permission has been granted for the renovation of a late 19th century building — part of an urban ensemble previously housing the Café Central — into four shared apartments with a planted courtyard and a terrace overlooking the Zurich lake. Construction is due to start in autumn 2026.
The renovation work has begun on Haus zum Magazin, a former administrative building of the Bally shoe factory dating from 1903. Various layers from previous era's were removed to expose the original steel columns and timber ceilings. Existing windows were retained and sometimes reinforced with new glazing assemblies, and new openings are being cut into the facade to create balconies. The project aims to balance the clearly discernible existing structure and the new residential use.
Work on the refurbishment of the Neue Pinakothek is now well underway. Re-use sits at the heart of the project: original stonework is being carefully dismantled, cleaned, and catalogued before being reinstated following the upgrade of insulation and building services. A precise labelling system and dedicated on-site storage are central to making this process work.
