Designs for a private house in Hampstead, north London have been granted planning permission.
The architecture of the site is varied, with the plot framed by a neo-gothic mansion and a post-war block of flats. Within this diverse setting, the proposed house offers a balance between the historic and the contemporary.
The design's language of stepped shapes, recessed porches, arches, and terraces are at once referential to the surrounding Victorian houses of the conservation area, but are also distinctively modern. Its brick facades have subtle and delicate details, from the depth of recesses, the composition of bricks, to the deep modelling around the front door.
Situated on a quiet and leafy street the four-storey house will be an open and flexible space for family living, with scenic views out onto a large private garden.
