Opia Store

Sihlstrasse Zurich, Switzerland 2025

Client: Opia

The project, a new space for the fashion shop opia, is made on the ground floor of a mid-twentieth century office building in the centre of Zurich. Many layers of past fitouts have been removed so that only the original beige limestone floor and the rough walls and ceiling, painted over in a deep red and brown, remain. The interior is draped with a three-metre high, sliver curtain that hangs suspended in the four-metre-high space, broken only by two large mirrors. Rails for clothes and hooks for bags float suspended in front of the curtains, whose drapery is pulled open to give access to two felt lined changing rooms. Roughly hewn slabs of veined dark limestone slabs provide horizontal surfaces to display knitwear, objects and perfumes.
