Held within the Barbican’s exhibition hall was, Into the Night: Cabarets and Clubs in Modern Art, was an exploration into the cafés and clubs, which played a central role in the development of modern art. Diverse and rich spaces; places of meeting and of experiencing the modern city. Caruso St John’s design captured the excitement of the period through boldly coloured rooms, as well as immersive reconstructions of these avant-garde spaces.
